WHAT DOES "SOMATIC" MEAN?

The word somatic simply refers to experiences and sensations noticed within the body.

Following a sound healing session, you may become more aware of your breathing, muscle tension, energy level, emotions, or other sensations that were already present. This increased awareness may happen as you slow down, become quiet, and turn your attention inward.

There is no single response that everyone should expect, and noticing a sensation does not necessarily mean that the session caused it.

What You May Notice

After your session, you may feel:

  • deeply relaxed or sleepy

  • peaceful, clear, or energized

  • emotional, tender, or reflective

  • more sensitive to noise, activity, or stimulation

  • more aware of existing tension or physical sensations

  • drawn toward quiet, rest, nature, or creative expression

  • interested in journaling, reflecting, or spending time alone

Some people notice very little afterward, and that is completely valid too. A meaningful experience does not require an intense emotional or physical response.

If You Feel a Little “Off”

Some people may feel tired, achy, emotionally tender, mildly headachy, or simply a little “off” following a session. Sound healing does not create an illness or cause an underlying physical condition. In some cases, the deep relaxation and inward focus of the session may make you more aware of fatigue, tension, discomfort, or emotions that were already present but less noticeable beforehand.

From an energetic perspective, you may experience this as a period of integration while your body and awareness settle after the tones, vibrations, and frequencies of the session. These feelings are often temporary, and gentle rest, hydration, nourishment, reduced stimulation, and light movement may feel supportive.

However, symptoms should never automatically be attributed to sound healing or energetic integration. Flu-like symptoms, fever, significant pain, or anything new, persistent, worsening, or concerning may have an unrelated cause and should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

A Gentle Reminder

You do not need to force an insight, emotional release, or transformation.

Allow your experience to settle naturally.

Take what feels meaningful, leave what does not, and give yourself time to return to your usual rhythm. There is no correct way to feel after a sound healing session.
